Thiago received a double undergraduate degree in Control Engineering from ENSTA ParisTech, in France, and the University of Campinas, in Brazil, as well as a MSc in Robotics from the University of Paris. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge (Churchill College) in 2020. His PhD research proposed new techniques for estimating mathematical models of biological neurons. In 2022, as a postdoctoral research associate at Cambridge, he secured a research grant from the Kavli Institute to apply real-time estimation and control algorithms to study neuromodulation in the Stomatogastric Ganglion, a living rhythmic neural circuit. From 2027, he will be based at the University of Oxford, where he will start his own research group.
